Terms and disclaimer

What this website is, what it isn't, and the terms that apply to services offered by SK Counselling and Coaching.

About this website

The content on this website is provided for general information about the services offered by SK Counselling and Coaching. It is not counselling, clinical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and reading it does not create a counselling relationship.

A counselling relationship begins only after a consultation, agreement to proceed, and completion of informed consent.

Not an emergency service

SK Counselling and Coaching does not provide emergency or 24 hour crisis services. Email and voicemail are not monitored continuously and must not be used to report an emergency.

If you are in immediate danger or require urgent medical assistance, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department. For crisis or suicide support in Canada, call or text 988.

Counselling and coaching are different services

Counselling may address mental health concerns, emotional distress, trauma, relationships, psychological symptoms, and experiences from the past that continue to affect you today.

Coaching is non clinical. It is primarily focused on personal development, clarity, goals, accountability, decision making, and forward movement, and it does not involve mental health treatment or psychotherapy.

Critical incident services

Critical Incident Stress Management is a structured approach to early support following a critical incident. It is not psychotherapy and it is not a replacement for ongoing mental health treatment. Participation in group interventions is voluntary, and these interventions are not presented as treatment or prevention of PTSD.

Services are arranged according to availability and organizational needs. SK Counselling and Coaching is not a 24 hour emergency response service.

Where services are available

In person counselling is offered in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. Virtual counselling is available for clients located in British Columbia, subject to suitability and applicable professional requirements.

Fees, billing and cancellations

Fees are discussed during the complimentary initial consultation and confirmed in writing as part of informed consent before counselling begins. Clients are responsible for any portion of a session fee not covered by a benefits plan.

At least 24 hours' notice is required to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations or changes made with less than 24 hours' notice, as well as missed appointments, will be charged the full session fee, and cancellation fees are generally not eligible for insurance reimbursement.
