How your information is handled, what is kept confidential, and the limits that apply.
Information shared in counselling is kept confidential subject to professional, ethical, and legal limitations. These limits are explained and reviewed with you as part of informed consent before counselling begins, so you know in advance what is protected and what is not.
Limits to confidentiality may include situations involving risk of serious harm to yourself or another person, suspected abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult, or a court order or other legal requirement to disclose information.
This website does not use advertising trackers, and it does not collect personal information in the background as you read it.
When you contact the practice by email or phone, the information you choose to provide is used only to respond to your enquiry and, if you go on to become a client, to arrange and deliver services.
Please include only basic contact details and a general sense of the support you are looking for in a first message. Sensitive clinical information does not need to be shared before you have spoken with me.
Electronic communications are not encrypted and their confidentiality cannot be guaranteed. If you choose to communicate confidential information by email, that will be taken as an informed decision and as your agreement to accept the risk that emails may be intercepted.
This email account is not monitored 24 hours and cannot be used for emergency contact.
Clinical records are maintained in a secure practice management system used for scheduling, charting, invoicing, and direct billing. Records are retained and disposed of in accordance with applicable professional and legal requirements.
You may request access to your own records, and you may withdraw consent for services at any time. Some information may still need to be retained to meet professional or legal obligations.
If you have a question about privacy or confidentiality, please get in touch and I will be glad to explain how your information is handled.
